Spurred on by the revolution of science & technology and the economic globalization, trade in services has become a new driving force for global economic growth. After China’s access to the WTO, China’s trade in services is faced with new opportunities for development and new challenges. To accelerate the development of trade in services is of great significance to the transformation of the growth mode of foreign trade, the readjustment of the industrial structure, the promotion of coordinated social and economic development. The Chinese Government attaches great importance to the development of trade in services. General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Hu Jintao clearly identified “energetically develop services trade” in his Report at 17th Party Congress. And now the development of trade in services has become an important task to “promote sound and rapid development of national economy”.
China Trade in Services, hosted by the Department of Trade in Services of MOFCOM, is an authoritative governmental portal in China’s services trade field functioning as an important part of MOFCOM’s public information service system, an important basis for national services trade promotion system, a platform for the collaboration between MOFCOM and relevant state departments and international institutions dealing with services trade, and a platform of communication among different provinces to improve the management of services trade.
